After the initial BCS poll was released two weeks ago, there were many teams and fan bases left wondering what they had to do to move up in the rankings. Least they forget, this is a marathon, not a sprint to the BCS Title game, culminating the college football season.
After another weekend of action, the college football world had more riser and fallers as once thought of can't misses, suffered losses. As other teams proved their worth, moving up the BCS rankings.
West Virginia and early Heisman hopeful front runner QB Geno Smith, lost big for the second weekend in a row. Falling to Kansas State in a 55-14 route. The Mountaineers who were earlier in the season, dropping 50 points seemingly each week. Have now lost their last two games by a total of 104-28.
Kansas State on the other hand, led by their Senior QB, Collin Klein. Have now climbed into the third spot, in the latest BCS Rankings. The Wildcats are now 7-0 on the season. With wins over No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 13 West Virginia.
They face No. 14 Texas Tech this Saturday. Leaving them only one more ranked opponent on their schedule. December 1st against No. 23, Texas.
The surprise team to many in 2012 has been the Florida Gators. After another win over a top ranked SEC foe -- A 44-11 beat down of South Carolina. The front-runners in the SEC East are now 7-0 on the season. Currently residing in the second position in the BCS rankings.
Three wins over then ranked SEC opponents in Tennessee, LSU and South Carolina. Florida now turns their attention to No. 10 Georgia this Saturday, in the world's largest outdoor cocktail party.
If the Gators can get past the Bulldogs, they will have all but locked up a date in the SEC Championship game come December. With only the big instate rivalry game vs. No. 12 FSU looming on the horizon on November 24th.
It's only the second week of the 2012 BCS standings, and already the rankings have a new look.
Who knows what will happen this week in college football. If the action, upsets and close calls happen again this weekend as they have all season long. We could see another big shake up come Sunday night, once again.
