A wild weekend of college football concluded week six, as teams knocked them selves from title contention, and others flexed their muscles to the rest of the country in big victories over the weekend.
Among the teams that fell from title contention on Saturday was FSU. It seems though every year, the Seminoles find a way to lose a game they should have no issues winning. This year, it was NC State -- again.
If FSU had any hopes of a one loss team making it to the title game in 2012, it won't be the one-loss team whose non conference schedule included three-quarters of a game with Savannah State (55-0) and full games with Murray State and South Florida (2-4).
That being the Seminoles.
A date with Florida still looms in the future as well. Title hopes in Tallahassee, meet the drain.
FSU was not the only school to dash it's title hopes over the weekend. LSU went ahead and joined the Seminoles, losing to Florida, 14-6 in Gainsville.
The Tigers, like many other teams, did not have an answer for Gators running back Mike Gillislee. Who by the way, now has 548 yards in five games for Florida.
The Gators are far from the nations top team. They may be slow starters; however, they are outscoring opponents 41-0 in the fourth quarter. A power struggle could be brewing in the SEC East.
Speaking of the SEC East. South Carolina announced it's presence with authority on Saturday after dismantling No. 5 Georgia 35-7.
The Gamecocks have now won three straight over their division rivals, a school first. That win gave Spurrier and his club 10 straight wins, dating back to last season.
That victory propelled South Carolina to No. 3 in the country in the latest AP Poll. And firmly in the national championship race.
The 2012 season; as strange as it may have been, is starting to take another shape. What team will be the hero or lamb in week seven?
